How do I even meditate? I can’t sit still that long… That question, my friends, is the beginning of a beautiful journey. I recently had the opportunity to complete an 8 hour (no, I’m not kidding) seated meditation with only a 30 minute silent lunch break. Now anyone that knows me will laugh saying, “How the heck could you sit still for that long?!” Needless to say, when it started, it was… stressful, painful, boring, uncomfortable, itchy. “Get me out of here!” was what I was thinking. Then settling in, it became… illuminating, peaceful and so much more. The good news is that an 8 hour meditation is not required for results. Even a 5 minute mediation or a 2 minute pre-yoga class mediation is enough to help our monkey minds. The calm that comes with mediation is powerful. It brings you to a quiet place to pray, to reflect, to just “BE”… and the best news is that there is no right or wrong way. Here is a quick technique I ran across. I hope it helps you.
